Join the ALLIES community and see how we can make a difference in your child’s journey to success.

The Academy for Literacy, Learning & Innovation Excellence is a tuition-free, public school of choice in Colorado Springs serving students in 2nd- 5th grade, with a dedication to helping struggling readers weighed down by their learning differences to finally take flight.

Using the Take Flight Intervention delivered by Certified Academic Language Therapists, in combination with core classes taught by teachers who understand and accommodate for characteristics of Dyslexia, and the comorbidities of Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia, students can finally spread their wings and soar to new heights alongside their peers.

Our structure is different from the traditional school model so that we can best serve our students. Regardless of the content being learned, we create learning environments that accommodate for the needs ALLIES students have.  ALLIES Professors come to us with additional training and understanding in the field of Dyslexia and the knowledge and desire to implement a variety of accommodations for our students.  We are trained in the use of accommodations for Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, ADD/ADHD, and the many challenges that come with each.

Take Flight Therapy

Take Flight Therapy is an Orton- Gillingham based program that addresses many components of reading, including: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency and basic comprehension.Students participate in a 3 year therapy level intervention: sessions are taught 50 minutes a day / 5 days a week for 3 years. This therapy is taught by Certified Academic Language Therapists (CALTs) who have a 2 year Master’s Degree level training and must be a practitioner for over 700 hours and sit for their therapy exam to become certified.

Growth Mindset

Students with a growth mindset seek challenges and embrace learning opportunities. When they face struggles, they persist. They thrive on feedback, instead of ignoring it. And when they witness people being successful, they find it inspiring!

Students with a growth mindset will reach higher levels of achievement. Students who hold a growth mindset are more likely to set goals for themselves, because they know that through hard work and determination, they can reach those goals.
